41 years.

It has been 41 years since Roe vs. Wade.

I could tell you how amazed I am at the lack of coverage of the march on Washington DC today. I could tell you how sad I am that  we still disagree on this. I could tell you how I worry and pray for those that face grief and pain from abortion.

Instead, I will share with you a few moments of encouragement.

Today, I prayed with a beautiful group of people. We stood respectfully on city property and prayed. We prayed that no more lives would be ended in the womb through surgery or suction.

I look back over the year and remember how mountains are moved.

I will keep talking and educating and loving people who disagree with me.

I think my dear husband said it best today:

Some rough estimates from some terrible acts in history:
3,000,000: # of Jews enslaved in Egypt at the time of the Exodus
6,000,000: # of Jews killed in the holocaust of the second world war
400,000: # of Africans brought as slaves to the colonies
4,000,000: # of slaves in the US when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed
7,000,000: # people starved to death in Ukraine in the 1930’s
1,000,000: # people killed in the Armenian genocide
60,000,000: # people killed as a result of the second world war

55,000,000: # of abortions in the US since 1973.

IF we, as a society come to understand that abortion is, in fact, the killing of an innocent human being, think of the emotions we will face as a people. Think of all of the reparation movements, holocaust denial-type laws, affirmative action, and those seemingly indelible marks people carry with them for years and centuries.

And as always, our Blessed Mother Theresa:

By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And, by abortion, that father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. The father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.

Please know, if you would like to ask any questions or engage in a discussion, I’d be glad to.

With prayers and kindness,

Kate
