John Michael Talbot and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church

When I was a little girl, mom and dad would play John Michael Talbot to calm us down. When we were going to bed or ill, they would put on his music. I had a tendency to have an upset stomach anytime I was nervous about something. Mom had a candle on her dresser. It was shaped like a square present – white with a green bow. Inside the candle were little green shavings that smelled like pine. I would bury my nose in the jar and listen to the music. Slowly, I would feel better and usually drift off to sleep. John Michael Talbot’s music remains the most peaceful music I have ever heard.

After I moved to Arizona, mom and dad became personal friends with John Michael. They have visited him in Arkansas and he has visited them in Houston. It is still a little surreal to me, but if you know my daddy – it just makes sense.

He is fast friends with everyone. He could sell a bear a winter coat.

John Michael just played at my home parish here in Scottsdale. It was amazing.

He led our Parish Mission. My favorite evening was when he walked us through the entire Mass. He reminded everyone why we do what we do. Why do we bow? Why do we kneel? Why do we do the sign of the cross? He walked us through scripture and history, renewing and reviving everyone!

If you have the opportunity to go see him, please do! He loves our Lord with all of his heart and it just shines through his music.

John Michael, thank  you for coming!
