Mother’s Day is tomorrow! Did you know that this is the 100th Mother’s Day?
Contrary to popular belief, Hallmark did not invent Mother’s Day. It was former President Woodrow Wilson who was the first to officially declare the holiday in 1914. Although Hallmark didn’t create the holiday, Hallmark does work year after year to help families celebrate the mother figures in their lives in an authentic and meaningful way.
I am very close with my mamma. We talk at least three times a week – sometimes as much as once a day! She is my confidante and friend. She encourages me in everything that I do.
Just last week, we were talking and she got very quiet. She said, “baby, is everything ok? you just sound a little down.” Even 2,000 miles away, she knows my voice. I let her know that I was just feeling overwhelmed with the end of school craziness.
You might also remember that Brian’s parents are staying here. Brian’s mom has known me since high school. She has been one of my cheerleaders and loves my children fiercely. She has also been cooking for us, which has been a huge treat for me and taken a lot of the pressure off of the nightly routines.
I wanted to do something nice in the guest room for them, and when I received this, I couldn’t believe how cute it was!
The kit that Hallmark sent included a frame and a chalkboard with chalk.
I took the kids out to the picnic table and had them come up with what they would tell their grandmas if they were sitting there.
One of my favorite parts was just listening to their conversations. They love their grandmas with their entire heart and had so many great ideas.
I can’t wait to print these out, frame them, and hang this in the guest room.
