How is it possible that I flew to Dallas, spent 3 days with some of the loveliest ladies I know, and I didn’t pick up my camera? I’m not sure, but it seems like the only truly responsible thing to do is just to share pictures from the Desert Botanical Garden with you.
I think I am going to have to break up these posts into chunks. So many ideas are stilling stirring around in my heart and in my head that I am processing. I’ll share them as they become coherent.
First, a story for you… On the flight to Dallas, I was sitting next to a man who sells insurance. He was happily sharing with us that he had been promoted and we were honestly thrilled for him. After a while he asked what I did. I told him I was a professional photographer and blogger. His response? “Oh, that’s cute.” I smiled and buried my head in my note cards and wrote my little cute heart out. (Side note: please don’t ever tell anyone that their profession is “cute”.)
At 4pm last Friday, I headed downstairs to sign in for Hope Spoken. I was pretty sure I was the only person that came alone. He took care of me, as always, and put me next to two precious girls who also came alone. I’ve never been more thankful for a long line. It gave me a chance to talk to these two ladies and ask them to be my wing men for the weekend. I actually asked them to be my fly men. I think I was thinking about fly girls and got confused and nervous. I was trying to be funny and it came out fly men. They agreed, in spite of my awkwardness.
I’m not sure how I got so lucky, but we were also placed in Jami’s small group together! What?!
Natalie and Krissy were precious friends that stayed by my side in line and during meals. I am so thankful that they helped me feel like I belonged some where this weekend!
More to come…
