Noticing Goodness – Part One

This is how my family looked in 2012.

Julia was born in 2000.

Nate was born in 2003.

After Nate, Brian and I struggled with miscarriages.

My dear friends Heather and Hannah encouraged me to write down their names as part of my healing journey. Brian and I spent a beautiful Labor’s Day weekend talking about their names and what we would have named them.

I’d love to share the names of all of our children with you:

Olivia

Isaiah

Matthew and Violet

Samuel

Alice

Susan

Our prayer, written that day: Dear sweet angels, rock my babies to sleep tonight and whisper their names into their ears.

In 2012, Brian and I were called to adopt.

We have signed with the Catholic Charities Community Services to start the process.

We had a meeting with CCCS in 2010, but we did not have peace about the timing. We put everything on hold.

There was a wonderful, overwhelming peace that came the day we wrote down the names of our children. And it was quickly put on our hearts to start pursuing adoption again. We contacted the agency and had a meeting in January all scheduled and set.

Then, the day came. Flu hit our home. We missed the meeting.

Do you know what Jesus Calling said that day?

I am with you and for you. When you decide on a course of action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you. You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don’t be discouragednever give up! With My help, you can overcome any obstacle. Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but remember that I, your verypresent Helper, am omnipotent. Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things happen before their times have come. One of the main ways I assert My sovereignty is in the timing of events. If you want to stay close to Me and do things My way, ask Me to show you the path forward moment by moment. Instead of dashing headlong toward your goal, let Me set the pace. Slow down, and enjoy the journey in My presence.

To be continued…
