Purple Purse Challenge

From www.PurplePurse.com : Two-thirds of Americans believe that domestic violence is a serious problem, yet just more than 1 in 3 have ever talked about it. Allstate Foundation Purple Purse is making it fashionable to talk about domestic violence and the financial abuse that traps women in abusive relationships. The program ignites fundraising for more than 140 national, state and local domestic violence organizations. Funds raised will support life-changing financial empowerment services to help domestic violence survivors build safer lives for themselves and their families. Allstate Foundation Purple Purse aims to break the cycle of violence in our nation – one family at a time.

The Purple Purse

I believe this is a problem that needs to be talked about. I believe when you discuss it, you could possibly change a life.

The Purple Purse

Kerry Washington has added her voice to the cause. She has designed a purple purse for the cause: “The purse I designed for Allstate Foundation Purple Purse is a fashion statement that carries with it an important message. I am extremely proud to wear it and to know that it will increase awareness and create conversations around this important issue.” – Kerry Washington.

Donate at least $10 to any organization in the Purple Purse Challenge and you will be entered to win a daily drawing for one of three exclusive Kerry Washington designed purple purses. Learn more and read the official rules here.

Domestic Violence is something that I have personally watched people go through. I watched them get free, but I also watched the struggle that took years. I think it is more common that we dare to believe. We can make a difference.

Thank you, Kerry Washington and Allstate for being brave.
