I’ve been wanting to make the family a delicious dinner for a while now. Now that I’m eighteen weeks, I am feeling better and have a little more energy. I’ve been able to pull off making dinner a few times now, and I knew I wanted to do something delicious. Brian was out of town last week and I missed him terribly, so I had plenty of day dreaming time about what meal to make. I decided to make a Texas feast, complete with Dr Pepper TEN brisket and dessert.
Do you know what I love about brisket? You start it in the crock pot about 10am. Work on the ingredients for about fifteen minutes. Then, by 5pm, your entire house smells amazing and your dinner is ready! I love finding ingredients that help make the brisket perfectly tender and just fall apart. The Dr Pepper TEN was the perfect base for the sauce.
I was able to find Dr Pepper TEN at my local Fry’s.
Crock pot meals are always fun, because the kids can help, too! Julia and Nate were at school, but Riley hopped right up when I asked him if he wanted to help me make a yummy dinner for daddy.
For dessert, I made the easiest cookie cups ever! I have two cookie sheets, but most of the time, they are in the dishwasher because I use them for everything. Whenever this happens, I use the muffin tins to make cookies. My kids say they look like cupcakes, so the term cookie cups was officially invented.
I grabbed a sugar cookie mix out of the pantry, followed the directions, and added 2 Tablespoons of Sunkist TEN. To let the kids know that they’d taste a little orange flavor, I used orange sprinkles on top of the cookie cups!
They were the perfect ending to our Texas dinner. Everyone cleared their plates, which for me equals success!
