The next day, we loaded up the car – a few minutes late because it takes forever and a day to pile seven people in to a car.
The traffic was terrible and I started to worry that we were going to miss it.
As we turned into the parking lot, I heard the familiar rumble. I pulled over and yelled for everyone to get out and look up!
There they were, majestically soaring overhead. I wondered what it was like for the pilots to feel so free, high above the earth, protected from the virus we were still learning about. It was loud and large and wonderful.
My children had exactly the reaction I was hoping for. They were in awe. It was two minutes of delight in the days of loneliness that we were all feeling.
I heard my name, which seemed surreal, and there were two of my dearest mama friends. I remember running over to the and wanting to hug them, but holding back. Seeing Jennie and Elizabeth, two of our amazing Scottsdale Moms team, was a breath of fresh air that kept me going for weeks. Yes, we would see each other again. Yes, our boys would play together again. It was like we hadn’t missed a day. We were the same mamas, yelling at our littlest to stay out of the street and trying to stuff every thought and word into the four minutes we had together.
