This past year, I pulled back a little from sponsored posts. Those posts were a huge blessing to me and made a significant contribution to my family, and I will always be grateful for them. But, as I find my way in this blogging world, I wanted to create even more authentic relationships with brands.
I had the opportunity to work as part of HP’s creative team at MyPrintly.
Something incredible happened. I learned about HP… and they learned about me.
They learned that I am not at the super crafty part of the spectrum. I am a mom that wants to make pretty things for her friends and family, with limited time and resources. I think the things I find on Pinterest are stunning, but most times, they are not my reality.
They were encouraging and patient and reassured me that there were a lot of moms out there just like me and that is why they needed my voice. Do you know what a great feeling that is?
HP was an amazing encourager, and in return, I stretched myself and learned new tricks. I learned iMovie on my phone and planned an extra party or two for the kids. My kids were able to watch me work with a brand who listened to their creative team. They learned the value in saying why and how you like something instead of just taking a picture with a fun caption. They learned that if they take the time to carefully explain their opinions, and offer suggestions and improvements – it provokes a thoughtful discussion.
Just know that if you still finding your way in this blog-land and social media world, it is okay to pave your own way. Stay true to your talents, your gifts, and your family. It will happen!
I put together a playlist of the projects I created for HP this year – enjoy!
