Adoption has always been something that Brian and I have been open to.
Even before we were married, we knew that we would grow our family by adoption – God willing.
We had a meeting with Catholic Charities two years ago about adoption, but we did not
have peace about the timing.
This past Christmas, Brian and I were ready to start the process once again.
We contacted the agency again and had a meeting in January all scheduled and
set.
Then, the day came.
Flu hit our home. We missed the
meeting.
I wasn’t mad – I was just hurt.
If I was trying to follow His will for our family – why was there a roadblock? If I was trying to grow my heart, why wouldn’t there be balloons and unicorns lining the path?
Do you know what Jesus Calling said that day?
I am with you and for you. When you decide on a course of
action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop
you. You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don’t
be discouraged–never give up! With My help, you can overcome any obstacle. Do
not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but remember that
I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent.Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things
happen before their times have come. One of the main ways I assert My
sovereignty is in the timing of events. If you want to stay close to Me and do
things My way, ask Me to show you the path forward moment by moment. Instead of
dashing headlong toward your goal, let Me set the pace. Slow down, and enjoy
the journey in My presence.
So, here we are..
I’ll keep you posted 🙂

Beautiful Kate! I will keep y’all in my prayers. Gino and I have wondered and been open to this via fostering since dating years too. It is a journey, a process that must unfold in God’s perfect timing. Thank you for sharing. much love, rita
Hey Katie (perhaps no one call you that anymore,) I have really enjoyed following you on Facebook and your blog. We began fostering kids three years ago with no intention of adoption, but voila, God had other plans and here I am beginning of the adoption process of twin 14 year olds.
Adoption/fostering has been in my heart since about 8th grade, it has been amazing the ride of life to get to the perfect place to be ready to really do this. God’s timing!
I look forward to reading more about this exciting adventure.
