Guardians of the Galaxy might just save Hollywood this summer

Disclosure: I was invited to a press screening of Guardians of the Galaxy and my husband and I were treated to a rare Tuesday date night. This may be the coolest thing I’ve ever been able to do as a wife.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Synopsis:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Earning awesome wife status! Date night at the #guardiansofthegalaxy movie premier

Going to see this movie has been on our wish list since we saw the first trailer. Chris Pratt is one of our favorite actors. We first watched him in “Parks and Recreation” and have been huge fans!

Pratt did not disappoint. His dry, boyish humor was delivered perfectly. I honestly cannot imagine any one else playing Quill. Every single character was a delight. They cast each one perfectly. By the end of the movie, you will absolutely fall in love with Groot.

It’s no secret that Hollywood hasn’t had a great summer. Guardians of the Galaxy might just save Hollywood! (See what I did there?)

If you are lucky member of GenX, the music and the jokes will make you adore the movie even more. I am going to need the soundtrack to get me through the first week of school.

Now for the big questions :

1. Would I see it again? YES! Absolutely

2. Will I take the kids to see it? No. (remember – our family falls on the strict side of the spectrum). There is cussing and the middle finger.

3. What age would I be comfortable taking them to see it? 15. (We could talk about it before the show and my expectations).

Let me know if you see it!

Happy Friday,

Kate
