God isn’t fair…

Tonight as I was waiting for Julia during piano lessons, I heard a beautiful testimony on the radio. She was praising God that He is not fair. (I am so sorry – I couldn’t find her name. I will update the post, if I can locate it. Her first name was Jennifer.)

This reminded me of a saying my father told me every single time my brother or I uttered the words:  “That’s not fair!”. He would say, “Yup. The fair is down Central Expressway in downtown Dallas. Want me to drive you?”. Oh, that would make me mad!

But her words caused me to pause. God isn’t fair?

He is just. He is truth. He is mercy and love.

But fair…

When I didn’t answer the phone last week when you called, He didn’t embarrass me for my sin of neglect in front of the world.

Thank goodness God isn’t fair.

When I rolled my eyes at doing one more load of laundry, He didn’t remind me to be thankful by way of a broken washing machine.

Thank goodness God isn’t fair.

When I cursed inside my head after finding the kids up chatting with each other after bedtime, He didn’t expose what I had said in my head to the entire world.

Thank goodness God isn’t fair.

Psalm 103:

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

    Life isn’t fair (as my father used to say). Thanks be to God that He is not fair, but infinitely merciful.

    Stopping by from Rags to Stitches to say hi – can’t say I just started following, because I was already a follower. But I so agree……because if God was fair, he wouldn’t have allowed his perfect Son to die for me so I could get to heaven – I’d have to be perfect all by myself, and I can tell you, that is never going to be doable. Thank you God for infinite mercies!
