When Brian told me that I had to celebrate, I hesitated.

I planned to photograph a wedding so that we could just pretend the day came and went without any fanfare.

But my sweet family had other plans.

Mom and dad flew in from Texas.

My sweet sister-in-laws had a cupcake waiting for me when I walked into Sprinkles.

And a party was planned for Sunday.

I had decided on a “Favorite Things” party at my favorite place – The Simple Farm.

What is a favorite things party?

• It is such a fun concept – perfect for including everyone in the celebration!
• You are going to share your favorite / must have / life changing item under $____ (Pick the dollar amount that works for your group – $5? $20? etc.)
• Bring two of that item to the party. Everyone has a chance to share their item and how or why they love it! They draw two names and two lucky ladies get to take home the item and try it for themselves! Everyone leaves with something fun!

Mama’s Cold Brew came and served everyone the most delicious iced coffee you’ve ever had.

We gathered around the table and laughed and talked and shared.

People are some of my favorite things. I love seeing people connect and smile and laugh.

I love when friends get to relax with each other for a moment and make a memory.

I will remember this day for a long, long time.

I am still grinning ear to ear.

If my first few days of being 40 are any indication, it’s going to be an amazing year!
