When my in-laws, the out-laws, were here, my sweet father-in-law spent a day putting together the crib and baby changing table. A dear friend from church gave us a beautiful crib and my sister-in-laws gave us the changing table. What a blessing!

We had just kind of shoved everything in available spots in our master bedroom with the plan to rearrange all rooms this summer after the kids get out of school.

On my birthday, after I got home from shooting the wedding, Nate offered to go upstairs and help Brian and I give Riley a bath. I didn’t think too much about it, so we trudged upstairs and Brian had me open our door.

I was absolutely floored. They had completely rearranged the room, so that she had her own sweet little corner!

Julia had picked out two pictures from our guest room to hang – the bottom picture from my Great Aunt Gertrude and the top picture of two sisters on a picnic together.

Julia, Nate, and Brian had taken scarves and made the sweetest little wall hanging.

A few years ago, when I was pregnant with the twins, I had purchased the bonnet on the left. After we lost them, we got rid of most everything, but I held onto this bonnet. I broke into tears when I saw it hung up on the wall. So much grace and mercy and love hanging there.

Tia, Riley’s great-aunt, made a beautiful quilt for Mary Alice. I can’t wait to see her laying on it!

I love watching how excited Riley is getting about being a big brother! He tells me every day which toys he is going to teach her to play with.

It was one of the most endearing birthday presents ever. I didn’t even realize how much a rearranged room meant to me.

Thank you, Brian, for always speaking my love language.

  1. That is a really nice room! I like the bonnet hanging on the wall… it is sort of like a memorial for the baby’s siblings that she won’t meet on earth.

  2. that quilt!!! Pretty!

  3. Anticipation and love holding the door for hope and faith.
