counting my blessings

by | Feb 8, 2009 | Family

     There are days when it all makes sense… when I smile at the sky and I feel brilliant.

Then there are days where my shoulders feel heavy… where I hear the words, ‘Praise Him anyway’ repeating over and over in my head. It seems like there have been more days like that lately ~ but that probably means I am not counting my blessings like I should.

So here are my weekend blessings…

Julia picked out this outfit ~ Adorable! She was so proud and wanted the grandmas to see how stylin’ she was.

Julia, Nate and I went down to the Heard Museum in Phoenix for the National Hoop Dance Competition. I have the most amazing memories of watching a Hoop Dance at Seven Falls when I was about Julia’s age. It was so fun. The youngest was 9 months… 9 months! Can you believe it? So cute, rolling the hoop around on the ground. The two year old actually danced to the music. It was so bright and beautiful and fun.

We sat on the lawn next to a very kind family there to watch their uncle perform! Their kids and Julia and Nate became fast friends. I am going to need to Super Tide with Bleach and more Bleach to get the grass stains out of their pants from rolling down this perfectly green hill!

010

The museum was open, so we wandered inside for a little bit.

004

Great children’s Exhibit!

025

On the way home, we stopped at the famous Sugar Bowl. (For my Denton friends:  It’s kinda like their Beth Marie’s). It completely lived up to expectations!

024

They served my Dr. Pepper on this plate! Hello?! True love.

027

And then, they served my ice cream on a cutie patootie plate! (Yes, I drank the DP and ate the ice cream). I had to keep up with Nate and I left my jet pack at home.

Great arcade in the back.

008

Very busy trying to win brother Nate some Skittles.019

We finished out the day by wandering the 5th Avenue shops at Downtown (the older part of Downtown Scottsdale). It was a great day. Thank you God for my blessings. Why are my legs so sore?

Psalm 71:1-8

In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame.

Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness;
turn your ear to me and save me.

Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.

Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of evil and cruel men.

For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD,
my confidence since my youth.

From birth I have relied on you;
you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
I will ever praise you.

I have become like a portent to many,
but you are my strong refuge.

My mouth is filled with your praise,
declaring your splendor all day long.
