The first week

Thank you for the emails, texts, and cards. They are so very much appreciated! We are so thankful for your love and your prayers.

Mary Alice is doing great. She is absolutely amazing. I forgot how in love you can be with a baby. I am pretty sure my heart has grown 7,000 times larger this week. She is so absolutely wonderful. Is it possible that babies hold the secrets of the beauty of heaven? I almost can’t breathe when she looks into my eyes. I am so honored that she is here with me.

Julia is preparing for her first performance in a play. This next Saturday, she will perform in The Tempest. She is so excited and we are running her lines night and day. I am so proud of how hard she has worked.

Nate is grandma’s loyal helper. He jumps up to help and has been a true delight with Mary Alice. When he watches his nightly television, he sits with his knees pulled up so that he can look at her. I’m pretty sure I caught him watching her more than the show last night.

Riley spoils her with love and kisses. He is so gentle and loves on her constantly. It is so sweet to watch and I am so glad he is adjusting well to this.

Yes, we all have had our moments this week of adjustment and craziness, but they are surrounded by the joy and wonder of everything new.

Brian, my constant helpmate, is a treasure. I’m so thankful that God put me with him.

My mother hasn’t left my side and has gotten me through not being able to drive or walk stairs yet. She has given up the guestroom until I can walk upstairs again. She has the house looking cleaner than I ever do and spoils me with the understanding only a mother can give.

Thank you for going on this journey with us and walking along beside us in joy and prayer.

Mary Alice, you are so very loved.

  1. Big smiles. Tell your mom I said hello. Mary Alice has such a sweet little face. We love seeing all the photos. Rest well, friend. You’ll have plenty of driving and running up and down stairs in no time.

  2. Oh what a week. We have our girls, and they are home with us. All the prayers are answered. They are well and getting better daily. Thank you Lord.
