The first time I filed for a passport was just last year. I had never been out of the continental United States that I can remember. Apparently my mom took me back and forth to Mexico when we lived in McAllen, Texas when I was a baby, but that is another story.

It’s amazing to me that my two big kids will be traveling internationally later this year. They will be telling me about a flight that long. I’m really OK with them going first. It will be amazing to hear their perspective.

I didn’t tell Nate what was in the envelope, because I wanted to see his reaction. (Just ignore the crumbs on the table.)

I was so worried they would reject our paperwork, because a certain birth certificate had been embellished by a black sharpie.

Instead, they rejected Julia’s birth certificate. Nope, I’m sure I don’t understand that one. Yes, we’ve requested a new one and all is well.

And his surfer hair? Love.
