Who’s in a name

A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, Favor is better than silver and gold. – Proverbs 22:1

I can remember clearly picking out each of our little one’s names. It was a privilege that I hadn’t prepared for. As Brian and I talked about names, I recall being struck with the weight of choosing someone’s name. This is what they will be called for life.

Nate’s middle name is Kenan.

This past week, Kenan was in Nevada for a class and offered to drive down. We were thrilled! Brian has known Kenan since they were young. It was very important for Brian to use Kenan’s name. I can remember asking Brian if we should use a family name, and he looked at me and said, ‘Kenan is family.’

I understand that now. Kenan is the most loyal friend our family has ever known. He is a man of faith and honor and kindness.

I’m so thankful that Nate was able to spend time with him and get to know a little more about his namesake. Kenan, thank you for making the drive!
