When the CEO left the company Brian and I work for, it was a huge sadness for us. This was my attempt at honoring him.

When you feel a little scattered, just pull up a stool and ponder this.

Darrell Ward built himself a little company in Denton, Texas called eInstruction (or Hypergraphics…. Stay with me boys).  He listened to educators.  He listened to wise counsel.  He listened to his circle of trust.

He made him some boards and some little blue clickers.  He made him some white ones too.

Now, legend will tell you he did something strange, something novel.

Legend has it he took care of his people.  A second mortgage for payroll, surprise plane tickets for funerals, secret checks for new babies, extra time off for bumps, jobs found for the displaced….  Hundreds of stories heard just like these, and hundreds more never told.

He gathered us in and showed us his vision and we all lined up to play our part.

We all came together with a passion for students, a passion for each other and a passion for Him.  We encouraged, shaped and rubbed off the rough edges.  We taught, hollered, and fought like brothers and sisters.  At the end of the day it was simple, we knew where we lived and we knew where we stood.

Then, storms came.  Things changed.  And we have been scattered.

Good people, it is time for us to be salt and light.  Gather up what you have been taught, gather up what you have been shown and live in peace.  Matthew 9:50b You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves and live in peace with each other.

We have been blessed.  Now it is our job to pick up the mission and bless others.

And don’t worry… we have a promise:

Deuteronomy 30:3 then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you back from all the nations where he has scattered you.

Good people, Go forth and be salty!
