After falling into the trap of doing too many sponsored posts, I wanted to pause and get back to my blog’s roots. (How many sponsored posts is too many? I’m sure this is different for everyone. For me, it was when I didn’t have time to write what I really wanted to write and post what I really wanted to post. I was too overwhelmed with deadlines and expectations to enjoy the hobby I had fallen in love with.)
Sweet Mary Alice was a forced break for me. It was wonderful. I thought about where I was and who I was when I started writing.
I had just moved to Arizona after living in Texas my entire life. I wanted to update my family and friends on how we were doing and how the kids were doing. I decided I needed a name for my “type” of blog. I’m not a photography blog or a recipe blog or a DIY blog. I decided on Lifestyle Legacy. I write about my family’s lifestyle and I want to leave a legacy for my kids. I want them to be able to read how loved they were. I want them to be able to see pictures of how their father held them on his shoulders and built things with them.
I accepted a few more ambassadorships that fit perfectly with our family. As You Wish Pottery allowed me to create time to make things with Julia, Nate, and Riley.
I continued writing for Scottsdale Moms Blog, because I remember what it was like moving to a new city where you don’t know anyone. This team of ladies is wonderful to work with and I enjoy writing them them.
Disney will always hold a special place in my heart. They way they celebrated Riley’s adoption for us and made us feel like they knew our story was incredible.
Looking forward to 2016 I feel so much more excited to blog. I’m ready to post more regularly. I’m ready to share my photography and not be shy about it. I’m ready to just post updates that only my grandma would like. And that is ok by me!
