Soccer Goals…

Yesterday morning, I wrote this on Instagram: “If you know me well, you know assembly is not in my vocabulary. I rush ahead, don’t read all the instructions, and usually loose one part. But this very excited four year old is not gonna wait for dad to get home. ? one soccer goal – coming right up. ⚽️”

You would think that being a daughter of an engineer would make me super talented at assembling things. Not so. I am a very task oriented person, so I like to check things off my list as quickly as possible.

Well, first I put the wrong two tubes together. Once I had that figured out, I was crusin’! I had the rest of it built and ready until sweet Riley said, “what do you do with this mamma?” I looked up to see him holding the net. So, after the third time putting the soccer goal together we had success!

This was his Christmas present from Aunt Theresa. She always gets the most thoughtful gifts. See that little thing hanging in the middle of the goal? If you hit the net, it yells ‘Goal’. If you hit the target, the crowd goes wild! Riley is having a blast with it. He is so patient with me. I know Mary Alice takes up a lot of my time. He is content getting juice and his iPad while I nurse and he waits for me to finish so that we can color. I really wanted to finish this for him and I was pretty proud of myself.

Today, it is still standing, so I guess I put the screws in mostly the right places.

Photography aside… In the photo below, I wanted a picture of us playing together, but I had my f stop set incorrectly. I was at 2.8. I should have been closer to 3.5 to get our feet in focus, instead of just the sliver of ground and grass. But you know what – it’s a picture of us playing together. I’m keeping it. In focus or not.
