There is something about having little ones around at Christmas. There is magic.
Less decorations.
More snuggling.
Less expectations.
More scented candles.
Less running around.
More saying ‘yes’ to what they want to do.

We sat down as a family and talked about what we wanted Christmas break to look like.
They wanted one night at home, relaxing together, for every night we go out. When I look at the calendar and school and church obligations, that leaves us with three family outings.

We talked about what we want those to be, and I loved hearing what they chose. The bigs (Julia and Nate) just want the littles (Riley and Mary Alice) to see lights… lots and lots of lights.
That is what they remember about Christmas and our family – driving around with hot chocolate to see lights.

If it were up to me, we would have gone to ten billion events, but it sounds so nice to just slow down. I can tell a difference in my mood. I can feel a difference in the pace of our home.
It is much more like a Silent Night, and I really, really like that.

Lovely just lovely! Such great ideas. I love how you let them help make the decisions.
