I had braces. Did you?

I have searched and searched for a picture of me in braces and cannot find one.

Does that mean in my teenage vanity I probably destroyed any evidence of braces and probably destroyed evidence of at least two years of my life? Yup, probably.

We just leanred that Nate will need an orthodontic consultation, so when I was given the opportunity to go ask questions about Invisalign, I agreed. A clear choice over braces? Sounds interesting – something I definitely want to consider for Nate.

The evening was wonderful.

I met up with a few other bloggers at Sara’s home. She is such a sweet hostess and it is always so nice to spend an evening with friends.

Dr. Thomas Shipley joined us for a Q&A session. We were allowed to ask anything we wanted about braces vs. Invisalign. He was so gracious and answered every single one of our questions.

Hearing everyone’s braces story was truly a walk down memory lane. I had to wear rubber bands. I was so teased. I can remember friends taking my bag of rubber bands and mixing it with ketchup on a lunch tray to make “school spaghetti”.

I remember the tightening appointments that were so painful. I remember getting my braces off and having strange yellowing in certain places, because I didn’t clean my braces well enough.

Knowing that with Invisalign the kids can take the tray out and brush and floss their teeth as they’ve been taught is incredible.

I think one of my favorite things about Invisalign was a blue dot on the tray.

This blue dot only goes away with saliva. This will tell you if your kids are actually wearing their trays. This was definitely one of my biggest concerns.

Do you know anyone who has had Invisalign? What was their experience with it?
