I sat out by the pool today and tried desperately to clean it so that Mr. B wouldn’t have to.
I texted him that I couldn’t get the skimmer to work correctly and he texted me right back not to worry. A few months ago, I would have ignored his kindness and tried to fix it myself.
Instead, I rolled up my jeans and stuck my feet in the water. My phone rang and it was one of my dearest friends from college.
I should tell you that I am terrible phone friend. I am just not great at talking on the phone. It probably comes from years and years in Customer Service and Sales Operations. The phone never rang because it was good news.
Today, I smiled and picked up the phone. We had the best talk.
I allowed myself to just sit there. And talk. And listen.
I didn’t try to multitask. I allowed myself to just be.
It was so great. After we chatted and vented and laughed and talked about what books we need to read, I hung up and looked around. I noticed our little tree was dropping the most beautiful yellow flowers.

Now, all week – when I look at these little flowers, I will remind myself of the joy that comes with slowing down and focusing on one thing at a time.

Have a blessed week and give yourself time to just be!
hugs,
Kate

Love you!

lovely little flowers. i like their music note vase.
a sweet uninterrupted conversation with an old friend sounds even lovelier.
Sigh. Beautiful! You did exactly the right thing. I’m not good at just being either. (Obviously, since the Lord keeps “helping” me in that department!)
