What are your favorite resources for increasing and sustaining happiness?

KAE_0029a

I could start this post in many different ways, but it starts with one beautiful truth.

All joy comes from God. All happiness comes from Him.

This week, I was asked by BlogHer:  What resources do I use to increase and sustain happiness?

Ironically, I am writing this post on July 4th – which is all about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I find it so very interesting that Thomas Jefferson uses the word pursuit. Happiness is an endowed and inalienable right. The right to pursue happiness. Have you ever thought about it that way?

I do feel like i am constantly pursuing happiness… as if it was just right around the corner from me.

When do I catch up to it?

I find it in those moments when it is not all about me. I find it in those moments when I have emptied myself of my wants.

I find happiness in friends, family, music, photography and journaling.

When I am the least happy, it is when I am caught up in what I don’t have or what I’m not doing.

And what is the most exciting part? When I realize that this small happiness is just a taste of what awaits!

Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor. 2:9)

Have a wonderful week!

Kate
