So, last week I had been invited to take pictures of my previous company’s sales summit.
(I told you that part, right?).
I was feeling so confident – and so happy!
I was able to see some of my old team – they all looked great! I got to see them win awards and truly celebrate being awesome at what they do! Good times!
I was practicing taking pictures of live music in seriously low light. Challenge accepted!
Here I was, with the best of both worlds and then…
I take off my camera, agree to join a friend on the dance floor and Ka-Blamo. On my bootie….
Let’s just say I did not sleep well that night and found out the next day I had a full radial head elbow fracture.
The good news: I don’t need surgery. YAY!
The bad news: It hurts. I had to start PT three times a week. This is a break that they do not cast, because they want you to use it as quickly and as much as possible. If you don’t, you risk loosing range of motion and scar tissue.
Awesome news for a photographer, right?
Well, Brian has been all the reasons that I married him. He has been kind and gentle and encouaging and wonderful.
If you know me in real life, you know that I have a hard time not being in charge and doing things for myself.
Case in Point: Two days ago, we made a lovely batch of banana bread and I pulled it out of the oven. As I lifted one of the bread tins with my good arm, the tin gave a little and my forearm touched the 425 degree pan. I have a wonderful 2″ burn on my left arm now.
I sat down in the kitchen floor, sobbing.
We’ve all been there, haven’t we? Nothing quite seems to go right.
Many, many people have much bigger problems than we do, but some days it feels like we just cannot do anything right.
I am learning to accept grace. My word of 2013. There it is, right in my face.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Brian pouring grace into my very klutzy heart.
I pray that someone shows you grace this week!
