Last weekend, I got on a plane and visited the ever fabulous Tulsa, Oklahoma.
I was born in Oklahoma City and I know every word in the musical Oklahoma, so it holds a very special place in my heart and makes me an official member :). Brian’s extended family is from Oklahoma (Purcell and Tulsa). The pictures above are from The Holy Family Cathedral in downtown Tulsa. Brian’s grandfather helped build the school next door.
I arrived Friday night and had the privilege of staying with Ashley. I spent the evening just hanging out with her very wonderful family. From the minute I arrived, I felt so welcome. I was so well fed and well loved all weekend. Ashley had asked a question on her blog a while ago asking how we feel encouraged. I think I answered something about when people remember little details about you, it can make you feel cherished.
Who had Dr. Pepper in their fridge for me?! Ashley.
Amanda and Jenna were my roommates for the weekend. Can I just tell you how fun they were?! Thoughtful and sweet and funny – I had such a great time! They are so talented. Amanda is the DIY queen. I learned more in one weekend with her than I have in two years on Pinterest. If you EVER have the chance to go to a Be Crafty workshop – you should totally do it. And Jenna is so talented! She was all like – “oh, I’m a seamstress.” and I get home and look at her website – and BOOM! Jenna – you are amazing!
The workshop itself was amazing. Lesley taught us some chalk art tips. She kept saying “oh, you know – like this.” Um, nope – everything she told us was news to me – I learned so much! Maybe, just maybe, I’ll be able to rock out an awesome Christmas chalkboard this year.
Lesley is one talented gal! High five!
And, get this y’all. I made a new friend. A Texas girl, displaced to Tennessee, whose parents live less than five minutes from my parents, who went to the same high school, who is also an Aggie, who went to St. Mary’s in College Station – WHAT?! I know, right?!
Without further ado, I’d like to introduce Tara…
.
She and her rockin’ friends from TN brought Elvis glasses for Ashley and her family. They rocked it. Tara might be the funniest person I’ve ever met. Sisters reunited, y’all! I wish I could tell you about every single sweetheart I met – the TN girls, Natalie, Devon, Thuy – so many new friends!
I love you Tulsa and I miss you already!
Have a great weekend, y’all!

tara is the best.
and oh how i wish i could have been with you both.
😉
Oh sweet friend.
What a fun weekend it was.
seeing all your pictures makes me so happy.
So blessed to have meet you.
Ummm… You are the sweetest, and I’m totally wishing you were closer so I could bring you coffee and pick your brain with all my questions of life.
So glad to call you my Tulsa Roomie!
Kate!!!!!!! I can’t believe I am just now catching up with this!! I love this post and I feel so blessed to have had our time together. I am crazy looking forward to our times to come! Who knew Tulsa would be so magical? My good friend Karen, who lives in The Woodlands was reading your blog and said – Hey, that’s my Tara! So funny! She had been following you, reading your adoption story in particular – and saw my pic. So funny! I love your guts! And next time Amy Jupin needs to tag along!!!!
