So, we picked up Kelly at the airport – and went to eat dinner in Old Town Scottsdale at the Tortilla Factory… H-E-L-L-O potato cake. (Its claim to fame has something to do with Rachel Ray, blah, blah, blah – don’t get me wrong – I LOVE Rachel Ray – I want to be her sister – BUT we were the for the food and for the talkin’).

No matter how I crop this picture – I look exhausted… Jen is in the middle and Kelly on the right. They are so beautiful and glowing. Hmmm. We had lots planned that night, but we ended up spending the whole night sitting under the beautiful full moon with the 10% chance of rain here in the desert (we actually felt appx. 10 raindrops each!), pouring our heart out to each other.

It had been 18 months since I had seen Jen. Jen is my best-est friend from Chicago, who recently moved to DC. The day we drove to Arizona I got a phone call from Jen, lost reception and yelled – I think she had a daughter and named it something with a K! Major life changes happening at the exact same time – it figures 🙂

Jen and I go way back. The summer after 7th grade, her mom walked up to my mom and told her that they had just moved to Texas and Jen needed a friend. We went to six flags that day. Jen and I avoided roller coasters and ate funnel cakes together. Instant Best Friends.

I met Kelly in college. My husband has known her since Kindergarten. We went to the same high school – but when your graduating class is over 1,200 sometimes you don’t meet until college.

When Jen and I met Kelly, Jenny and Maja – our other college roommates, it was magic. We made a pact never to gossip about one another behind each others backs. We all loved chocolate, the Sound of Music, dancing and Texas A&M. I am so blessed to have these women in my life. They help me reset. When I look at them I know who I want to be.

Between Jen, Kelly and I we have six children from ages 9 to 16 months, three college diplomas, two masters, three boys, three girls, a deep love for chocolate and our husbands, and a healthy dose of exhaustion. Oh, did I mention chocolate?

I love these ladies with all my heart… Saturday here we come!
