Last week during Grandma Camp, my brother and his wife, Alyx, invited us over for dinner. Julia and Nate went over early – I thought just to swim – and I helped Riley, my mother and my grandmother get ready to head over.

I walked in and was overwhelmed. Alyx and BJ had been planning a party for Riley for weeks.

My aunts, uncle, parents, parent’s friends and grandmother were there to celebrate meeting Riley for the first time. I was absolutely speechless. The tears that I’ve been holding in for months flowed freely. Daddy came over and just let me cry into his shoulder. It just felt so amazing to have family be so excited and supportive.

When Alyx learned that Toy Story is Riley’s favorite, she went all out and did the entire party in the Toy Story theme! Infini-TEA and beyond, Alien punch and the cutest cake made up the sweetest details!

This is my daddy putting together a tricycle. Dad is always building things, fixing things and singing. It’s how he rolls. I love that Riley and he just clicked. Riley stood there so patiently just watching every move daddy made.

We swam until the stars came out. I am so very blessed to have a family that supports Brian and I and all of our dreams.
