All Hallows Eve – 2016

I received gift cards from At Home to facilitate our annual All Hallows Eve party! It is my honor to share news with you from a company that I enjoy and support! #MyReason #AtHomeStores

Well, another amazing year is in the books! We had such a great time at our annual All Hallows Eve party. A few years ago, the kids wanted to invite over the friends they carpool with. They all planned their costumes, I made Texas chili and cornbread, and it became a tradition! The moms stay back, visit, and pass out candy. The dads take the kids around the neighborhood.

These kids have sung together for eight years, and have started serenading the neighbors as they walk around. I think it all started last year when they were all characters from Les Miserables. This year a ukulele was added to the ensemble and I’ve already heard wonderful stories from the neighbors!

Here is just my crew:

Riley: Ironman

Julia and Mary Alice: Wonder Woman – a double threat

Nate: The Black Knight

I decided to go with a black and gold theme after seeing this post from my friend Erin. The colors are so timeless and classic and will easily translate over to fall decor. In our house, we have limited storage space, so decorations that work for multiple seasons are a plus!

I made banana bread all day and At Home sent goodies for all the guests!

After the house is decorated and the food is ready, it is so nice to sit down with friends and just relax.

Sharing a meal together is one of my favorite things. You get to catch up and share and remember that you aren’t the only parent who forgot to sign the permission slip for the field trip. You lean in and listen and smile as you watch your kids bound through the gate running upstairs to the scale to weigh their pillowcases full of candy. You remember the little ones who could barely tie their shoes without you and you watch as they play instruments and sing karaoke until the stars come out. You are so thankful for friends to make memories with.
