Kate's iPhone-10

This Insta-Friday is brought to you by the letter ‘W’… for I thought it would be a brilliant idea to Walk home 3 miles from Best Buy this morning.

So, I have now put my weight (those three numbers) out there for the whole world to see. Um, Yay!

In October, when I quit my 8-5 job to grab my dream with both hands and hold on tight, I started going to the YMCA five times a week.

Yup – five times.

I walk / try to jog on the treadmill for 20 minutes or one mile every day. (If my booty is moving slower than 20 minutes per mile – I make myself stay on until I hit one mile).

The first day I got on the treadmill – I was pretty sure I was going to toss my cookies about three minutes in. At that point, I realized that I am no longer the dancer / ballerina I was in 1992 (Whaaaaa?).

Anyway, fast forward to today.

My 2004 Tahoe – holla! – has had a CD stuck in the radio since the first day I got it. That means, only radio for me – which is totally fine.

It also means that every time I start the car – the CD spins and pretends that it is going to mirculously play. God only knows what CD is in there – my best guess would definately be Boys II Men.

For Christmas, momma gave me money to get a new stereo in the car!

So right now, Best Buy is putting it in! I see a massive road trip in my future – with lots of tunes!

Last night, I told Mr. B that I could totally walk home – no problem! He has a very busy day at work today, so I thought I was being super awesome.

About two miles in, at 48 degrees and a good breeze going, I texted “rescue me”.

I was only 1/2 kidding, but decided to go for it.

I entertained myself (and made excuses for a few rest stops) by taking pictures of the crazy awesome desert I live in just for you.

The moral of the story – yes, it is super hard for me to excercise.

But yes, it gets better most days (some days are still hard).

No, I haven’t seen a huge weight drop yet – I need to decrease some more calories and get my cardio up – and that is ok! I have to start somewhere, right?!

I hope you have an awesome day!

Insta-Friday photos are taken on the Instagram iPhone app (free) or any other phone pic in all their grainy glory!

I don’t always have my camera with me, but I usually have my phone. The pictures may be blurry or grainy, but I am so glad I have a way to capture the moments through the week that I might forget! It is so fun to sift through them on Friday and remember those little moments throughout the week… usually I find myself with a wide smile as I go through them!

I am @songskatesang on Instagram if you want to follow the feed.

I’m linking up today with Jeannett over at Life Rearranged…

Come on over!

  1. you are superwoman. I’ll find the tee shirt. So proud of you. And the pictures are great.

  2. I agree with your mom! It is so hard to start an exercise program, but it is absolutely 100% the right thing for yourself and your family. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and the numbers will come eventually. I will pray for God’s favor to grant you success.

  3. I have not seen any weight loss yet. 🙁 For Lent I decided to commit to 30 minutes a day with at total of 2.5 hours/9 miles a week. I’ve been doing pretty good keeping my commitment but no drop in numbers yet. I am trying not to be disappointed about it—that is hard—I like immediate results.

  4. Hi Kate, Thanks for the photography tips that you shared with me as we were waiting in the bathroom line 🙂 Your photography is amazing and I look forward to reading your blog.

  5. love those photos…thanks for stopping to take the pics!

  6. Gorgeous photos!
