It’s fall y’all! The season change allowed me to refresh this room and create a place for prayer.

Last year, one of our youth group assignments was to ask our small group if there was a special place in their home where they prayed.
I will never forget what one of the teens said. Imagine the most athletic kid you know. He’s great in every sport. He is liked by everyone. He smiles and he shares how his mom always sets up a place in their living room for prayer. No matter how many times they move, this is the first thing she does. She sets up a figurine of Saint Joseph, rosaries, devotional books, Bibles, and a place to kneel.
Everyone sat in complete silence listening to him celebrate his family’s place to pray.
This absolutely challenged me. Did my children have a special place in our home to pray? I know we pray together as a family at the dinner table and they pray in their rooms, but where else do they know they can just sit and rest and talk with Him?
We do our Sunday evening prayer time in our family room – away from screens and distractions. I wanted to set up the table to be simple with reminders to pray.
The changing seasons gave me a wonderful opportunity to refresh this room and add reminders of fall, thankfulness, and prayer.

Does your family have a special place in their home to pray? I’d love to hear about it!

Isn’t it interesting that God has put this on our hearts too. We have always used the kitchen table for study and devotion.Aunt Avey’s chair for prayer. It was her prayer place for all of mother’s and my memory. So I continue.
