Thankfulness? My heart should be filled with thankfullness.
Loneliness. The overwhelming feeling I have. My insides are being wrung out. Emptied. I claim to have excitement over emptying my plate ~ only to fill it up again with You.
Psalm 121: I read it today with fresh eyes. I raise my eyes towards the mountains. (Wait… did that say mountains?) Where does my help come from (He just said mountains!) The Lord is your guardian. The Lord is your shade (Has He been preparing me for this moment my entire life?) By day the sun cannot harm you, nor the moon by night (This wasn’t written as a hypothetical… this was written for people full of anxiety and full of the need for encouragement).
My guardian does not sleep. His protection is not confined to my individual steps. He is always watching over me.
Psalm 121 is the 2nd in the collection of ascents:Â A thanksgiving, reporting, divine rescue yet fervent with prayer for further protection against lying attackers. The psalmist is acutely aware of living away from God’s own land where divine peace prevails.
It is all becoming so clear.
