Last week, Nate (12) was my date to see ANT-MAN. Blue slushies were ordered and 3D glasses were grabbed. I love being able to take him to movies I’m sure he will love!

From Marvel: The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Tip “T.I.” Harris as Dave, Wood Harris as Gale, Judy Greer as Maggie, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, and Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., Marvel’s “Ant-Man” delivers a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure on July 17, 2015.

I truly enjoyed the movie! I thought it was so fun to see another Avengers character. I loved the underlying theme of redemption and second chances. I appreciated that it pointed out the injustice of job hunting for those with a criminal record. They have served their time, paid their debt to society, but have an almost impossible time finding employment.

What I didn’t enjoy was that it was inappropriate for my 12 year old son. I was so disappointed that Scott’s friend, Luis, mentions the “first boobs” he ever touched. Nate was also bothered by the animals and humans being shrunk when the experiment wasn’t successful.

I love Marvel and the Avengers, I just felt that the content was more mature than other Avenger movies.

From Nate: It was an amazing movie aside from all the unnecessary comments. I loved the comedy!

Now for the important questions: Would I take the other kids to see it?

Yes!

Julia (15) would absolutely love it. I think she is old enough to over look the comments.

Riley (4) is too young to see the movie, with the violence mentioned above.

However, I think Brian will really enjoy it!
