Mary Alice’s 5th Birthday

This may have been the sweetest birthday in the history of all birthdays. I love a good birthday. I blame my mom. She always made the most amazing meal, the sweetest cake, and we usually had some amazing outing.

I’m not the kind of mom that is great at cute decorations and amazing matching themes, but I do love a ridiculous amount of streamers and a homemade birthday cake. My favorite thing is just to give myself a check up on my kiddos. Do I know their favorite flavors? Do I know if they really like to be surprised or if they want a slow, open-presents-once-an-hour instead of all-at-once kind of day?

On Thursday, we had a drive by and wave birthday parade. She and Julia decorated a table, Brian made pink lemonade, and she waved her little heart out!

On Friday, she opened her presents from her aunts, uncles, and grandparents. She tried on new dresses and twirled all day long. I found the cupcake toppers we had used for Julia’s 5th birthday and Tia dropped off the best cupcakes in the entire universe.

Brian and Nate planned an imaginary trip to Disneyland, complete with roller coaster ride in a laundry basket and a YouTube viewing of the newest parade. Her laughter was magical and reminded me that I’m the luckiest lady in the entire world to be surrounded by these kids.
