With Brian’s job starting, we decided that we were going to take a little getaway up North to Prescott.

The first place we always stop is Smitty’s Big Barn Antiques.

The first time I stumbled on this place was with my friend Aimee.

(Look Aimee! They fixed the stairs.)

I just love this place. Wandering around an old store full of antiques is so fun for me.

I love to make up stories about who owned the things I fall in love with – where they hung in their house and why they chose to buy it to begin with.

I get lost in my own thoughts about where I would put something or who I would buy something for!

When I caught up with Brian and the kids outside, he was telling them stories about this old barn above. His grandfather, who lived in Purcell, Oklahoma, had tons of make shift barns all over his land that all 51 (at last count at our wedding 13 years ago) first cousins would play in.

Can you imagine all those cousins running around? So fun!

I had three cousins on each side – and I remember being so excited to see them at the holidays. I can’t imagine getting in the car to see 51!

I’ll be back with more tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Kate

  5. Stopping by from SITS! I love antique shopping, it’s great to imagine the previous owners and the roles the objects played in their lives!
