Nashville – The Hermitage

The next morning, we returned the van and exchanged it for a car that I thought might be a little easier to park in downtown. We headed to lunch and guess what – they have Chuy’s! Do you know what this means? Deluxe chicken enchiladas and queso in my tummy! The food reminded me so much of what they have in Texas. It made this girl very, very happy.

After lunch, we headed over to our first tourist stop – The Hermitage.

The Hermitage is President Andrew Jackson’s home in Nashville, Tennessee. The entire time I was there, I couldn’t help but think about how my father would love to tour the grounds. He loves history, especially American history.

He purchased the Hermitage in 1804, long before he was elected president. Did you know he was the only president to ever pay off the national debt and leave office while the country was in the black?

The grounds are stunning. I loved the gardens.

Getting to tour the inside of the home was amazing. Original wallpaper, thick fabrics, and beautiful furniture – all perfectly preserved. It really was like stepping back in time. Yes, I would absolutely recommend the tour to anyone.

Don’t you just love old, majestic trees? Being in Phoenix, we don’t see a lot of trees, so if you live in a place with glorious, old trees, don’t take them for granted. Ok?
