Have you ever stumbled onto a friendship? So many things line up that you just sit there smiling?

Earlier this month, when I headed to Blue Lily, I traveled by myself. As night fell, fog and rain rolled in. The drive was terrible. Yes, I’m probably being over dramatic, but I was pretty shaken. I arrived a little out of sorts and determined to tell everyone over and over what a horrible drive it was. As soon as I walked in, a beautiful brunette sat up and said “You’re Kate!”. (I kinda felt like a rock star – like Norm in Cheers. Did I just date myself? Does anyone know Norm? No? Anyways…).

Over the weekend, we learned we lived five minutes apart, and the two ladies she drove with (who are also AWESOME!), insisted that she drive back with me to give me company. That was such a gift! Thank you, April and Joan! On the way back, we talked each other’s ears off.

We made a date to take a photo walk together and brought our youngest – who just happen to share the story of adoption.

It was good. So good. She surprised me today with this post over on her blog.

I see a new and strong friendship forming.

I’m going to open my hands to the blessing that is each other.
