My parents grew up in Corpus Christi. It was an 8 hour drive to Corpus from Plano, Texas – where I grew up. My brother and I got very used to these trips and I always enjoyed the scenery.

It has been two years since any of these road trips, so this time I tried to take a few pictures…

I have always loved the old houses… I love making up stories about why they are abandoned and that maybe there is treasure inside…

See the pink hotels?! That was where my parents stayed on their honeymoon.

They had $13.00 and drove a little while out of Corpus and stayed here. If you are familiar with the Big Tree in Rockport, that was their big honeymoon destination.

Rockport Bakery – this was once owned by my uncle’s family and they made mom and dad’s wedding cake.

I love driving by it each time we go to Corpus. We hear the sweet memories – mom’s version with dad’s sweet comments – each time.
