Do you know what I’d like you to believe?
I’d love for you to think that I am mom of the year. It would be great if you thought that I swept out of my bedroom in a long off-white gown in the middle of the night and that I picked up any crying littles and sang to them sweetly until they drift back off to sleep.
The truth is : I stink at the middle of the night. In 13 years of being a mom, I still don’t have it figured out. I am short tempered and my words are cold.
Thankfully, God knew this about me. He chose someone for me that has nighttime ninja skills. My dearest Brian is a rock-star in the middle of the night. He can get up, change a diaper, sing children sweetly back sleep and return to bed and pass out like it never happened.
It has been a few years since I’ve changed any diapers, much less woken up every night in the middle of the night.
I am so thankful for Riley, the two year old we are adopting. I cannot believe what a gift God has blessed us with, but I have a feeling that my friends are weary of hearing me complain about my loss of sleep.
Now that three months have passed and we have night time worked out pretty well. Brian takes Monday through Thursday(yes, I know I am the luckiest girl in the world) and I take Friday through Sunday.
The only time we don’t have completely worked out is when his diaper is too wet in the middle of the night and the bed needs to be completely changed – we like to call this the washing machine shuffle. One of us tackles cleaning the mattress and putting fresh sheets on the bed. The other one tackles starting the washing machine.
When I learned about the bedtime mats, I was so excited! I still cannot believe how much has changed since Julia was a baby. It seems like there are products everywhere you look to really help with bedtime and getting a good night’s sleep.
The pad has adhesive on the back, so it stays put at night.
I was concerned about if it would be comfortable for Riley to sleep on. So far, he hasn’t really even noticed it. As long as he still has his bunny and his blankey, he falls asleep just fine.
Right now, Target has a coupon they’d like to share with you for the bedtime mats: {Click here}
Thank you for reading along and I hope these help you also!
Take care,
Kate
P.S. And because I like to know exactly what the product package looks like when I am shopping with littles underfoot – here you go!
