Have you ever heard a talk that moves you many times a day?
This past Sunday, a question was asked – “when you pray, do you have a conversation? Do you talk and listen, like a real conversation? Or do you find yourself just talking to yourself after a while.
I can tell you that I sat there, convinced that I had no idea what Father Fred was talking about. I was sure that I was praying correctly.
Instead, this week, I have found myself in many times like this…
- Great song on the radio.
- Give praise for something wonderful.
- Mind wanders into something like this. “Dear Father, please help so and so. The other day they were so upset about such and such. You know, a few years ago, they really hurt my feeling about that thing. I can’t believe they did that. I should have told them what I really felt. But you know… And on and on and on.
That is not prayer.
That is a childish conversation with myself.
I am going to be more careful when I pray.
I am going to pay attention to where my mind wanders.
I hope I can encourage you to do the same.
Much love friends!
