On Thursday morning, we woke up to a very cloudy day. It was raining lightly and the temperature had dropped!
As I was driving Nate to school that morning, I noticed that the night blooming cactus were still open. These cactus are my favorite. They work so hard for a blossom. It opens, usually for one night, then falls off. It is a stunning, large, white blossom that absolutely stands out against the green, spiked stalks. The blossom gives off the most amazing scent, calling all hummingbirds and butterflies for miles around.
I always hold my breath for these to bloom, because if you miss them, it is another season before you see any blossoms.
The clouds had tricked the blooms into thinking that it wasn’t quite morning, so Riley and I were able to grab my camera and go for a walk after we dropped Nate off at school.
Having a little one in the house again is so wonderful. He helps me slow down and really point out the beauty I see around me. I had gotten used to rushing from place to place, but it is hard to rush when you have a little one to buckle up, make sure you have juice, carry extra diapers and wipes, and be home at nap-time. I really like that part of littles.
Slow down today, friends. Allow yourself time to rest.
Have a wonderful day!
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. – Isaiah 40:8
