AZ Highways magazine promised fields of wildflowers… Rattlesnake Cove out at Bartlett Lake was the closest… I was so ready! Armed with my camera, beef jerky, horizon chocolate milk (to keep the back seat appeased), good music and a beautiful day, we drove out.
If you are ever in Scottsdale – you have to take Scottsdale Road east to Cave Creek. It is the Desert Scenic Foothill Drive. You won’t be disappointed, I promise. And if you are, I’ll let you buy me dinner and tell me all about it. Deal? Ok, deal.

J is so unafraid. She loves to run ahead and explore on her own.
Â
N is still in the stage where he just really loves sticks. Any stick. The more the stick will assist him in being a jedi or ninja, the better. A wizard stick is also an appropriate stick, just fyi.
Â
I didn’t find any wildflowers… I found out from a local that we’ve had so much rain it will probably be closer to Easter before any sightings. How appropriate, right?!
Anticipation. Preparation. Patience.
Â
N and J make the best wildflowers anyway!
