Today, Riley turned three! This is such a precious time.

Yesterday, we celebrated at the train park with friends and family. New family, neighbors, friends from MOPS, friends from work – past and present, blogging friends, and church friends… It was so special to be surrounded by so much love and support for our sweet little Riley.

About a month ago, we were sent a very special package from #DisneySide . Disney helped us celebrate Riley’s birthday with a bag full of party decorations, games, and activities. It was such a special surprise and my family was so excited!

I can’t tell you how much Riley has been looking forward to this! In the days since it arrived, Riley has peeked into the suitcase full of goodies everyday! I loved watching his anticipation grow as we waited for his party!

I think Riley was a bit overwhelmed at the attention. Within a few seconds, Julia and Nate flanked him, one on each side, and Nate’s friend, Christian, stood behind him with his hands on Riley’s shoulders. Isn’t it amazing how in tune kids can be with one another?

Seeing Riley’s grandmother and great aunt celebrate with us is surreal. I am so honored to grow our family, not just with Riley, but with three people! It reminds me every day that God’s family doesn’t always look like what we think it looks like in the pictures we draw in kindergarten.

For a little while, when Riley first joined us, I was so nervous about the Family Tree project for first grade. (Isn’t it silly where your mind can wander to?) Now, I’m actually looking forward to it.

The tree will be one big huge mess of a willow! Or maybe it will be two giant oak trees standing next to one another – holding hands just to catch a little seed that fell onto the ground. Whatever it looks like – there will be rejoicing!

Riley is one loved and celebrated little man. Oh, I can’t wait to see what he becomes!
