On our last evening in Santa Fe, Kelly and I took a walk down to Canyon Road. We have known each other for more than 20 years. We have had a front row seat to each other becoming college graduates, brides, wives, and mothers. I call her when I am overflowing with every and any emotion. She has heard my laughter, my anxiety, my tears, and my silence. She always, always knows just what to say.
She points me to our Savior in a very humble, tender, and special way. She always gently guides me back to His truth when the troubles of this world feel overwhelming.

She was so patient with me as I practiced macro photography and excitedly showed her what I was capturing.

And I realized that taking trips like this together and spending time together is a lot like macro photography. You hold your breath and hope that as you see one another up close that you still enjoy the details. You notice new colors and familiar edges. You see the age that makeup can hide. You notice how the slightest wind can knock everything out of focus for a second. But, you walk away thrilled with every moment captured, knowing it will live forever in your soul.
