She pondered them in her heart…

I’ve taken a little time off of writing to process all that has been happening – a pandemic, voluntary isolation since mid March, riots and looting and protests, racial injustice, pain, hurt, and confusion.

Every time I sat down to write, Luke 2:19 would pop into my head. “But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart.”

How did she do it? She was so thoughtful and peaceful. She patiently waited for the right time to share. I have so much to learn from her.

My words may never be strong enough or clear enough to speak truth to these matters. So, I will look to the words that for centuries have spoken to injustice and truth…

Psalm 139

4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Words have the power to heal or break, to encourage or to destroy.

May we always think carefully before speaking. May we find rest in silence and peace in the smiles of those in our home.
