Every summer, we pile in two cars and drive to Texas. Yes, it takes us 2 full days with our crew. When we arrive, we usually are cranky and need a venti chai tea latte. But it is always, always worth it.

On Brian’s side of the family, there is always an amazing night of grilling, kick ball, swimming, and usually a ridiculous amount of singing. Watching the kids play with their cousins always makes the drive seem like nothing.

I’ve also officially decided that my children are the most beautiful in the world.

Every aunt and uncle bring something unique to my children. They listen and love them just where they are. They teach them about art, fitness, grilling, cooking, gardening, and most importantly – the movies you should watch to learn the best quotes.
For now, almost all of our family lives in the Houston and Dallas areas. I don’t take for granted that those in Dallas drive down and we make home base at my parents house. Everyone makes it so easy for us to see the whole family. Someday, when my children read this, I want them to know how special that was. Everyone worked hard and poured into their visits. Oh, what a unknown treasure they have.
