Would you believe we have already been out of school for a week?!
It is so nice to have my kids home for the summer.
{For those of you that think I’m crazy – remember – I was a full time working outside the home mama. This is the first summer that I’ve been home for a very long time and I am going to soak in every moment!}
Last summer, my husband did an amazing job keeping the kids away from what we call ‘screen time’. Screen time includes televisions, computers and ipads.
This summer I wanted to establish the same expectations with the kids.
We’ll call week one – Reading Week.
Day one – we went to Barnes & Nobles to sign up for the kids summer reading program. The hot chocolate and cookies didn’t exactly hurt 🙂
Day two – we went to the public library to learn about their summer events and sign up for their toddler programs.
Day three through five – we practiced at home. We read the books we had chosen for at least thirty minutes each day.
I didn’t get to sneak in any reading time, but I am hoping to very, very soon.
Happy Summer,
Kate

We’re on day one of Summer Break here. We made it to the park. I have bigger goals for Thursday. 🙂
That is awesome! I love that you are keeping screen time to a minimum and reading is a great way to do that. I hope you enjoy the summer with your kids!
