Thanksgiving Table Setting

This year, we stayed in Arizona for Thanksgiving. With my morning sickness and a few huge home repair bills hanging over our herds, we decided to stay close to home. Our dear friends, the Campbells heard that we were staying here and invited us over for lunch.

I’m so thankful for that act of thoughtfulness. I was doing ok staying here until this morning at about 10am. I had a deviled egg disaster in the kitchen. My first batch was terribly under-cooked. Things just don’t boil in the desert at 1,500 feet above sea level like they do in Houston at 125 feet above sea level. I sent sweet Brian out on Thanksgiving morning for a dozen eggs. He is such a sweetheart.

The second batch went fine, but while I was standing over my kitchen sink, peeling the eggs, it hit me that I didn’t hear my mom, grandmother, and aunts laughing. I didn’t hear any nephews under my feet.

It got very lonely very quickly. Brian and Julia came to my rescue and helped me peel the rest of the eggs.

I’m so thankful we were able to head over. The rest of the day was wonderful. It was filled with amazing food and watching our kids play together.

If you hosted someone today that wasn’t related to you, thank you. Thank you for opening your home and making sure we all had a place to be.

The sweetness of the day is made so special by friends who make you feel like you belong.
