The 2012 Holiday Adventure | Playing Piano for Great Grandpa

Julia has been playing for about a year now.

I am loving having music in the house.

At momma’s house over the holidays, I walked around the corner to the loveliest picture.

This is the same piano I grew up playing on.

I wish I had the same patience Julia has.

I just wanted to play Amy Grant songs and did not want to do any theory.

My poor piano teacher.

It was much better for me just to babysit for her while she gave lessons to others who actually completed their theory books lessons.

I can still trick people into thinking I can actually play when I play the four songs I know or a beautiful progression of major chords.

I can remember being Julia’s age and showing off for Grandpa.

I always wanted him to be so proud of me.

He taught me to clog, one of his many talents, in his garage on a wooden stage he had built. That night, we gave the family a clogging concert to the family to The Cotton Eyed Joe.

Oh, I loved the sound those shoes made in that little garage in Corpus Christi, Texas.

It seems like it was just yesterday that it was me trying to make him smile.

Happy weekend everyone!
